The Employee Relations Specialist is a hands-on, highly collaborative, and trusted Human Resources (HR) professional who will support the business by partnering with leaders across the organization on a wide variety of compliance related projects, initiatives and issues. This position is relied upon as a subject matter expert in employee relations, compliance, policies, practices, and decisions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage escalations and advise HR professionals on best practices regarding protected leaves of absence including FMLA and ADA
  • Manage and administer Company severance program to include position eliminations, restructures, reductions in force, and plant closures
  • In such situations, manage and advise on selection criteria, communication plans, procedures, and review compliance with federal and/or state level WARN acts
  • Develops recommendations for changes and improvements to employee relations processes and programs and manages projects to implement those changes/improvements
  • Consult with HR Professionals on day-to-day employee relations escalations and develop, refine and implement policies necessary
  • Responsible for managing Employee Relations group inbox and Ivanti Compliance case management system and answer day-to-day employee relations and HR compliance questions
  • Proactively researches to ensure compliance, provide appropriate consultation and avoid/timeline exposure to the organization
  • Create, design and deliver training/education sessions for employees, human resources professionals, supervisors and managers related to employee relations, FMLA/ADA, and union awareness
  • Support internal HR audits to include Harassment Training, Employee Handbook, Form I-9's, etc.
  • Responsible for ad hoc reporting and metrics in Company systems to support Employee Relations team initiatives
  • Keep abreast of local, state, and federal employment and compliance laws
  • Build and maintain key internal and external relationships
  • Participate in projects as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in HR or other related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources, preferred experience in a manufacturing setting or a predominately hourly workforce
  • 3 years of Employee Relations and/or HR Compliance experience
  • Experience in a union environment preferred
  • Intermediate/Advance Microsoft Excel Skills required (V-lookups, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Ability to compile, review and manipulate large data sets
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, resolve difficult situations, conduct appropriate interventions, facilitate problem-solving activities, and remain calm under pressure
  • Analytical skills and strong attention to detail required

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $80,000 - $100,000 + bonus + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. (Full-time is defined as regularly working 30+ hours per week.)
