In Operations, you would be on the front-line of the business; overseeing production, tracking product yields, and making necessary adjustments. Ensuring that safety and USDA health standards are met throughout all steps of the manufacturing process. You would be a key player in upholding the trusted quality in which Smithfield, Eckrich, Nathan's Famous, and our other brands are known to possess.

Core Responsibilities

Operational

  • Receives regenerated resin barrels from SBC to the plant and transfers such materials within the facility, as required.

  • Periodically sanitizes production equipment and the facility to a ready-to-use condition.

  • Performs production operations, including: operation of automated valves/mixers/temperature control through a human machine interface computer system., precise measurement and addition of chemicals/resins, dismantling/assembly of mechanical equipment, manual operation of air operated pumps, in-process sampling, in-process qualitative and quantitative testing, calculating of quantities based on operational procedures, manual cleaning of product, troubleshooting of equipment and process issues, cleaning and upkeep of assigned work areas, and adherence to all established SOPs.

Administrative

  • Logs all operations performed in batch records and/or cleaning logs.

  • Records data from equipment checks.

  • Fill out daily logs as required. Precision and careful attention to accuracy of recording information is essential.

  • Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Safety Practices at all times

  • Assists Maintenance department when required

Staff

  • Advises supervisor/manager and the quality assurance representative of any cGMP violations, maintenance issues, process issues, and inventory issues.

  • Attend work on time and as scheduled.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required.

  • Proficient understanding of speaking, writing (legible), and reading in English.

  • Acceptable score on a pre-employment general mathematics test including but not limited to: arithmetic, weights and measures, rates and ratios, and units

  • Previous experience with mechanical equipment.

  • Proficient in hand tools including wrenches, screwdrivers, and pliers.

  • Previous experience working with chemicals and pH meters.

  • Basic computer skills with MS Office and Email Applications.

  • Demonstrated problem solving and reasoning skills.

  • Ability to work day and night, and weekend shifts as required.

  • Ability to work up to 7 days in a week as required.

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

  • Ability to use a pallet jack and barrel cart.

  • The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

  • The work is physically demanding and can require the use of some or all body parts and muscle groups. Good hand-eye coordination and upper extremity motor skills are essential for most job tasks.

  • Continuous standing for long periods

  • Work at a fixed workstation location

  • Pushing or pulling of heavy roller carts, bins, or transport containers

  • Frequent static and/or awkward work postures with neck and spine flexion while grasping, pinching, pulling, lifting, extending, flexing the hands and arms

  • A variety of arm and hand movements are required in applying force, movement and repetition

  • Routinely lift heavy objects weighing up to 60 pounds

  • Wear PPE as required

  • Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights.

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors at various weather conditions
