Job Description

Primary Objective:

Primary function is to identify market/customer needs and product requirements for the Mobile Hydraulics Sensors product line and apply group and divisional resources and technology to meet these goals. Act in a leadership role in North America to provide market insight/guidance internally, actively promote the MTS Sensors brand to external markets, coordinate activities with peers globally, and participate in cross functional decision making to support strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Works with the Director of Global Marketing, the Mobile Hydraulics Sales Manager, and the Director of Worldwide Sales, providing market insight/guidance specific to the Mobile Hydraulics Sensor product line in North America. Identifies, investigates, and conducts research to determine market segments that present opportunities for profitable sales growth.

2. Leads external Marketing efforts for the Mobile Hydraulics Sensors product line, including Technical Conference presentations, Industry Association relationships, and strategies relating to external partners or sales channels. Coordinates Advertising, PR, Web Site, and Trade Show activity with Marketing Communications Manager and works within established Marketing Communications budgets.

3. Provides guidance to Product Management about product life cycles and recommends transition plans such as product replacement or obsolescence as part of the execution of group strategy. Works with Product Management to author commercial specifications for new and enhanced products as necessary.

4. Provides guidance to Product Management concerning pricing, including standard pricing for products sold through distribution channels, OEM discount structures, and pricing strategies for new product introductions. Consults peers globally to ensure reasonable pricing consistency in line with overall strategy.

5. Evaluates business feasibility/profitability for custom OEM products and acts as the lead technical contact for specific key OEM accounts. Provides technical support to Sales Engineers on sales calls to key customers as necessary.

6. Provides leadership and guidance in the usage/development of the companies’ Customer Relationship Management software tools (CRM) for the purpose of supporting both sales and marketing activities.

7. Evaluates and monitors competitor activity, develops selling strategies for each as necessary, and provides both training and guidance for sales in competitive selling situations.

8. Acts in a leadership role through mentoring to promote skill development for Product Managers, Applications Engineers, and other Marketing Department employees. Some direct supervision/management responsibilities may be included.

9. Knows and applies the division’s quality policy and procedures of ISO 9001 as it relates to area of responsibility and the organization. Follows all standard operating procedures as prescribed and notifies appropriate personnel of any non-conformance.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Engineering degree may be required for specific products).
Minimum 10 years relevant engineering or marketing experience.
Experience or education should include some business and marketing.
